For over 100 years, cooks have been using J.R. Watkins gourmet ingredients in their kitchens. Here are some of our favorite recipes.
BUBBLE GUM MILKSHAKE
1 cup/250 mL heavy cream
3-4 cups/700-950 mL vanilla ice cream
1/2 teaspoon/2.5 mL Watkins Bubble Gum Flavor
1/4 teaspoon/1.2 mL Watkins Imitation Butter Extract
3-4 ounces/85-133 g frozen whipping topping (thawed)
30 drops Watkins Red Food Coloring
Gumballs, whipping topping, or fresh fruit as garnish (optional)
Combine all ingredients (except garnish and whipping topping) in a blender and pulse on high until fully mixed, scraping and stirring with a spoon/spatula as needed. Fold in whipping topping until well blended. Pour into serving glasses and top with garnish, if desired.
12 oz can/360 g lemon concentrate, thawed
2 cups/500 mL water
1 tbsp/15 mL Watkins Pure Lemon Extract
2 tsp/10 mL lemon peel
Mix all ingredients together and pour into a 9-inch/23 cm square pan and place in freezer for 1 hour. Use a fork to rake the crystals and freeze for another hour. Repeat every hour for 3 – 4 hours or until set. Spoon into bowls and serve.
Serves 8 to 10.
PUMPKIN SPICED LATTE
1 1/2/360 mL cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoon/7.5 mL Watkins Pumpkin Spice Extract
2 teaspoons/5 mL Watkins Pure Vanilla Extract
2 teaspoons/5 mL sugar or sugar substitute (to taste)
1/4 cup/60 mL of espresso or 1/2 cup/120 mL
strong brewed coffee
Watkins Pumpkin Spice Seasoning for garnish (optional)
In a small pan combine milk, pumpkin spice extract, vanilla and cook on medium heat, whisking until boiling.
Remove from heat. Pour into two mugs, add the hot espresso or coffee, and top with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin pie spice on top.
